Google celebrates Labour Day with doodle



Search giant Google has celebrated the occasion of International Labour Day with a doodle on its home page. Labour Day is observed by workers' unions and their members to mark the 'eight-hour day'.




India is among the many countries that celebrate Labour Day annually on 1st May. In India the first Labour Day was organised by the Labour Kisan Party of Hindustan in Madras on 1st May, 1923.

On 1st May, Gujarat and Maharashtra also celebrate a holiday as well as the two attained statehood in 1960.

52 kg heroin worth around Rs 260 crore seized from near Pakistan border



Recently Border Security Force (BSF) detained 52 kilogram of heroin valued at nearly Rs 260 crore in the international market from two places along the India-Pakistan border in Punjab. 



BSF officials revealed 20 kg heroin was seized from border out post Roranwala near Attari international border on the other side 32 kilogram heroin was recovered from border out post T Bundh near Khemkaran.

On Tuesday, the BSF found 18 kg heroin valued nearly Rs 90 crore in the international market and Rs 4.87 lakh fake Indian currency notes from near Khemkaran at the India-Pakistan border.

'Apple to launch 60-inch iTV this year'



Soon we may find Apple iTV in our home.

Recently Brian White of Topeka Capital Markets reveals in a research note that "iTV" will be 60 inches (150 centimeters) on the diagonal, however it could also come in 50- and 55-inch versions.



White added tech giant Apple will also release a small "iRing" that fits on the viewer's finger, permitting the user to control the screen by pointing.

Further he said the report is based on gleanings from visits with Chinese and Taiwanese companies that supply Apple with components.

Best Buy selling Apple iPad 3 at 30% discount



Recently a spokeswoman of Best Buy revealed that it is offering a 30 percent discount on its current stock of Apple iPad 3 tablets in the United States.



Analysts revealed that Retailers usually cut prices on products in the lead-up to a major launch of a new iPad or iPhone as a way of clearing old inventory.

Carly Morris, Best Buy spokeswoman, revealed in an e-mail to Reuters, "We're not discounting the price of iPad minis currently -- however, we are offering 30% off all iPad 3s right now."

Twitter to increase IPL experience for fans



Microblogging giant Twitter has joined hands with the IPL to offer a range of applications and features to make the Twenty20 tournament beginning on 3rd April, an interactive experience for the fans. 


 
Chairman of IPL Mr. Rajeev Shukla revealed "It has been our constant endeavour to make the fans feel that they are a vital part of the IPL, and not just passive spectators on the outside. Our relationship with Twitter, one of the worlds most popular and prominent social media platforms, will bring the fans closer to the Pepsi IPL 2013 and the cricketers participating in it, in a thoroughly engrossing, interesting and enjoyable manner."

Further more, a spokesperson of Twitter revealed "Twitter brings you closer to the things you are passionate about - and for millions of fans worldwide, that's cricket. We are pleased to see the IPL using Twitter to help fans users follow and connect with their favourite players, teams, and personalities."

YouTube passes billion users each month


According to reports more than a billion people use YouTube every month, with viewing on handsets helping drive growth. 






In a blog post, the team of YouTube revealed that nearly one out of every two people on the Internet visits the YouTube website, which has grown into a global hit since launching in 2005.

Further team revealed "If YouTube were a country, we'd be the third largest in the world after China and India."
